Viewing Your Afterpay Card in the App
What you should see on the card screen, why the number can stay hidden, and how to check the limit before you tap.
The Afterpay card screen shows the credential and the balance behind it in one place. Knowing which of those two numbers matters before you walk into a checkout is most of what this page is for.
The card screen has three things worth reading
The masked number and expiry, the available balance against your limit, and any holds placed on recent transactions. A pending authorisation will reduce your visible balance before it settles, which is why a card can look short after a purchase that already completed.
If the balance reads lower than you expect, check for a pending hold rather than assuming a charge went through twice.
Why the number stays hidden
Card numbers are treated as sensitive by the issuer and only revealed after an authentication step. If your screen shows four digits and no reveal control, the account has not reached the state that unlocks the full credential.
Do not work around it through third-party sites. Sharing a card number to have it read back is the single most common route to card fraud on consumer accounts.
Adding it to a wallet
Where the issuer supports wallet provisioning, the card appears in Apple Pay or Google Wallet once you authenticate. The wallet token is separate from the card number, and revoking one does not necessarily cancel the other, so treat the app as the source of truth.
If you lose the phone, remove the card in the Afterpay app first. Removing it only from the wallet leaves the underlying card active.
Reading the card screen correctly
Three numbers on that screen are worth distinguishing. The masked card number identifies the credential, the available balance reflects your limit minus pending authorisations, and the expiry governs when the issuer will stop honouring it. Confusing the available balance with the limit is the usual reason a card looks empty after spending that has in fact cleared.
A pending authorisation can sit for several days with card merchants and longer with some travel providers. If your available balance looks lower than expected for that reason, waiting is usually the correct action rather than attempting another purchase.
Frequently asked
Why can't I see my full Afterfly card number?
The issuer keeps it hidden until the account is verified and the card has been used. If there is no reveal control after that, contact Afterpay support.
Does adding the Afterpay card to Apple Pay change the number?
No. The wallet creates its own token. Removing it from the wallet does not cancel the underlying card.
Why is my available balance lower than expected?
Pending authorisations reduce your visible balance before they settle. Check for holds on recent transactions before assuming a duplicate charge.
What should I do if my card screen is blank?
Confirm your account is verified and sign out and back in. If it persists, the issuer has not provisioned a card yet rather than a display fault.
