Our log shows clean passes on App Store, Steam, Google Play, first charge and renewal both going through.
Not every range needs a long write-up. This one is Commonwealth Bank Virtual Card, Australia, Mastercard, Credit, and it does the job without much fuss.

The money side
On a monthly subscription the maths is easy: no issuance fee once, then no top-up fee. It only starts to bite when you fund the card repeatedly. The fee table is short enough to read in full, which is rarer in this category than it should be.

Where 267497 clears, and where it does not
This table is the whole record: every attempt we made on the range, with the gateway's answer attached.
Merchant by merchant
| Merchant | Attempts | Cleared | Rate | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| App Store | 68 | 61 | 90% | cleared, 3-D Secure completed in-app in under 20 seconds |
| Steam | 55 | 48 | 87% | no friction, and no AVS prompt |
| Google Play | 43 | 35 | 81% | went through on a fresh card with the issuer's default address |
| Hetzner | 27 | 0 | 0% | 3-D Secure challenge never completed. The order timed out waiting for the OTP. |
| StockX | 22 | 8 | 36% | 3-D Secure challenge never completed. The order timed out waiting for the OTP. |
Run from a Australia-region account between 29 Jul to 02 Sep 2026, with the billing address set to the issuer default unless noted. Declines were logged with the reason the gateway returned.
Failures we could not fix
If you buy from Hetzner, use something else. It declined consistently. StockX was fine on retry.
What to change before you retry
- Hetzner: 0 of 27 cleared. Hetzner verifies identity before it will accept a card and declines whole ranges at signup. Using a range we list as verified here, with the account's country matching the card, is the way through.
- StockX: 8 of 22 cleared. Charges only happen when a bid is accepted, so the balance has to be sitting there before the seller responds. A card that funds on demand is what fails here, not the range.
Do these first
- Set the billing address to exactly what Commonwealth Bank Virtual Card generates for Australia. Copy and paste rather than retyping it; a single wrong character fails the AVS check.
- 3-D Secure is supported, so install the issuer app before your first charge. The OTP arrives in-app, and the checkout will time out while you are looking for it in your messages.
- You can hold several cards at once (Multiple). Split them by merchant, not by amount. It makes a failed charge far easier to trace.
Worth it?
Nothing here is a dealbreaker, but nothing is a standout either. It does the job on Australia-region checkouts. Treat the numbers here as a snapshot of 5 weeks, not a permanent rating.
The things people actually ask
What does the 267497 BIN tell a merchant?
Roughly: who issued it, where, and what kind of product it is. Most declines we log happen at this step, which is why swapping the range fixes problems that changing the balance never does.
Is 267497 a real card number?
Six digits of a sixteen-digit number. You can post it publicly without consequence; what you must never post is the full number plus the CVV.
Why would 267497 be declined if the range is fine?
Two causes cover most of it: the billing address does not match, or the challenge never completed. Both look identical on screen, and both are fixable in under a minute.
Can thousands of people share the same BIN?
That is the normal case. Every Credit card Commonwealth Bank Virtual Card issues in Australia carries the same six digits. Two people on 267497 can get opposite results at the same checkout, which is why a single review is never conclusive.
What we did
We bought a Commonwealth Bank Virtual Card card, funded it, and pushed 215 charges through live merchant checkout pages between 29 Jul to 02 Sep 2026. Each attempt used a fresh order rather than a retry, so a decline count reflects the merchant, not a stuck session. 152 cleared.
Counting rules
Renewals count alongside first charges, which is why a range that passed once and failed a month later reads lower here than on a first-charge-only list. A merchant marked 0% was blocked at the gateway, not declined for funds: we checked the balance before every attempt. Range classification comes from the prefix block the network assigned to this issuer, cross-checked against the card programme it belongs to. Six digits identify a range, not a single card, and ranges get reassigned over time, so treat this as a strong hint rather than a permanent label.
