How to Use a Snap Finance Virtual Card

Snap Finance gives approved shoppers a one-time-use virtual card number to complete a purchase at participating retailers.

The Snap virtual card is a bridge between approval and checkout, not a card you carry around.

How the card is issued

After you apply and are approved, Snap issues a virtual card loaded with your approval amount. In the US flow, SnapExpress creates a one-time-use card that works just like a debit or credit card at checkout: you or the cashier key the 16-digit number into the terminal. Online, you enter the same details at the merchant's payment page.

Approval amounts typically range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars depending on underwriting, and approvals may be valid for a limited window.

Where it works

Snap is aimed at durable goods at participating partner retailers: furniture, mattresses, tires and wheels, appliances, electronics and jewelry. It is not a general-purpose card, and it cannot be used at big-box stores, restaurants or gas stations. The store locator on snapfinance.com shows which nearby retailers participate.

This merchant restriction is the main difference between Snap and a buy-now-pay-later virtual card such as Zip or Sezzle, which work anywhere the network is accepted.

Costs to understand before you sign

Snap offers lease-to-own agreements, installment loans or retail installment contracts depending on the state and merchant, and the agreement itself says which one you have. The early-purchase option is the cheapest path: pay the cash price plus taxes and fees within the promotional window and the total cost stays close to the sticker price.

The default multi-month plan costs significantly more than the cash price. Processing fees or an initial payment may apply, and the full terms are in the agreement you sign at checkout.
