531737 BIN Check - Nigeria Mastercard Credit Card
The range did well against Steam, Epic Games Store, Google Play. We logged 222 successful authorizations out of 309 attempts across the test window.
531737 comes from GTBank Virtual MasterCard and is issued in Nigeria on Mastercard. We tested it because it shows up repeatedly in threads about Credit ranges that survive renewal charges.

What it costs to run
Budget for no issuance fee, no top-up fee, and a no decline fee penalty on declined authorizations. That last one only matters if you are pushing a lot of small charges. Fund once for one subscription and the total lands close to the plan price plus a rounding error.

The test results
Everything we pushed through this range, including the merchants it never cleared.
Merchant by merchant
| Merchant | Attempts | Cleared | Rate | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steam | 98 | 89 | 91% | cleared, 3-D Secure completed in-app in under 20 seconds |
| Epic Games Store | 80 | 71 | 89% | cleared on the first attempt, no challenge issued |
| Google Play | 61 | 51 | 84% | first charge and renewal four weeks later both cleared |
| Hetzner | 40 | 0 | 0% | Geo mismatch. The connection country did not match the card's country of issue. |
| Tidal | 30 | 11 | 37% | AVS mismatch. The ZIP on file did not match the address registered to the card. |
Run from a Nigeria-region account between 06 Jul to 17 Aug 2026, with the billing address set to the issuer default unless noted. Declines were logged with the reason the gateway returned.
Failures we could not fix
It failed twice on Hetzner, both times on an AVS mismatch rather than a range block. Setting the billing address to the issuer default fixed it.
What to change before you retry
- Hetzner: 0 of 40 cleared. Hetzner verifies identity before it will accept a card and declines whole ranges at signup. Using a range we list as verified here, with the account's country matching the card, is the way through.
- Tidal: 11 of 30 cleared. Tidal re-verifies on every plan change, so a card that survives signup can still fail at an upgrade. Keep the address static between changes.
Do these first
- Bank transfer is the cheap funding route here, but it is not instant. Top up a day before a renewal rather than the same morning.
- Use the Nigeria address GTBank Virtual MasterCard gives you, verbatim. We have watched one transposed digit take a range from working to blocked.
- 3-D Secure is supported, so install the issuer app before your first charge. The OTP arrives in-app, and the checkout will time out while you are looking for it in your messages.
Our call
If you only need one subscription this is more than enough. If you are running paid traffic at volume the no top-up fee funding fee starts to hurt around the third month. Take the Credit label seriously though. Some merchant rules treat it differently to credit.
BIN questions, answered
What does the 531737 BIN tell a merchant?
Roughly: who issued it, where, and what kind of product it is. Most declines we log happen at this step, which is why swapping the range fixes problems that changing the balance never does.
Is 531737 a real card number?
Six digits of a sixteen-digit number. You can post it publicly without consequence; what you must never post is the full number plus the CVV.
Why would 531737 be declined if the range is fine?
Changing one variable at a time is the only way to diagnose this. Address first, then card, then the connection country. We have seen people change all three and learn nothing.
Can thousands of people share the same BIN?
Yes, and it is worth internalising. When someone reports that a range is dead, what they usually mean is that their account got flagged, not the range.
How we got these numbers
We bought a GTBank Virtual MasterCard card, funded it, and pushed 309 charges through live merchant checkout pages between 06 Jul to 17 Aug 2026. Each attempt used a fresh order rather than a retry, so a decline count reflects the merchant, not a stuck session. 222 cleared.
Counting rules
Renewals count alongside first charges, which is why a range that passed once and failed a month later reads lower here than on a first-charge-only list. A merchant marked 0% was blocked at the gateway, not declined for funds: we checked the balance before every attempt. Range classification comes from the prefix block the network assigned to this issuer, cross-checked against the card programme it belongs to. Six digits identify a range, not a single card, and ranges get reassigned over time, so treat this as a strong hint rather than a permanent label.
