How to Cancel a Sezzle Virtual Card
Cancel a Sezzle single-use card in the app under the Virtual Card tab. The held amount returns to your spending power immediately.
Cancelling is a two-tap job in the Sezzle app, and the reserved amount goes straight back.
The steps
Log in to your Sezzle dashboard or mobile app and open the Virtual Card tab. Select the card you want to cancel and tap Cancel Card. The amount that card had reserved is returned to your estimated spending power, available for a new card straight away.
You will want to do this whenever the purchase changes: a higher total needs a new card, because two single-use cards cannot be combined for one order.
What cancelling does and does not do
Cancelling an unused card simply releases the reservation. If the card was already used for a purchase, cancelling does not refund the order; that runs through the merchant's return process, with the refund flowing back to your Sezzle order.
Unused cards also expire on their own after 72 hours, so cancelling is mostly about freeing spending power early rather than preventing a charge.
How Sezzle virtual cards behave
Sezzle single-use cards are generated per purchase in the app, for in-store use via Apple Pay or Google Pay or online anywhere Visa is accepted. The down payment is charged at purchase and the remainder follows the installment schedule. Cards are issued by WebBank or Sutton Bank in the US and Peoples Trust in Canada.
Service fees apply to some merchants and are shown before you create the card, so you can cancel at that point at no cost if the fee does not work for you.
