Virtual Credit Cards That Work on Microsoft 365
Best result for us: Chime, Mountain Wolf, Bleap. Two of the three also passed a renewal charge four weeks later.
Microsoft 365 blocks most mainland-issued cards outright. We pushed 23 virtual cards through its checkout in September and kept the 10 that actually cleared.
Why Microsoft 365 turns your card down
Your bank is not blocking anything, the merchant is. Microsoft 365 sees a card range it does not like and issues a soft decline before the authorization ever reaches your issuer. That is why you get no fraud alert and no explanation.

The three we would actually use
- Chime is the cheapest route we found: Free to issue, no top-up fee on funding, and it cleared on the first attempt.
- Mountain Wolf is the one we would actually keep. Virtual card free up front, 0% on top-ups, and the 3DS flow does not demand a phone number you do not have.
- Bleap is the cheapest route we found: $0 to issue, 0% on funding, and it cleared on the first attempt.
Paying Microsoft 365 with a virtual card, start to finish
-
1
Open the account
Have an ID ready; all 3 want one before they will issue. The check runs automatically. Set up 2FA while you wait, not once money is on the card.
-
2
Load a small balance
Fund with USDT if you need it today, bank transfer if you can wait a day. One month is plenty to prove the card works.
-
3
Create the card
Multiple cards per account, so keep Microsoft 365 on a dedicated one. Lock it to the merchant and cap the spend. Both take seconds and neither costs anything.
-
4
Enter the details at checkout
AVS is on here, so the US General address on Chime has to go in exactly as issued. Copy it out of the app; do not retype it.
-
5
Clear 3-D Secure
The OTP lands in the issuer app. Approve it, then check the account, because a charge can sit in pending after the bank has already said yes.
If it still will not go through
Between them these cover almost every failed attempt we have logged.
- Billing address mismatch (Chime issues a US General address). AVS compares what you type against the address on file, and it fails on a single transposed digit. Paste it instead of retyping.
- Merchant switched acquirer. When a platform changes processor, ranges that cleared last month start failing with nothing changed on your side. Re-run the card before assuming it is dead.
- Spend limit too tight. If the cap sits below the plan price plus the conversion spread, the authorisation comes back as insufficient rather than blocked.
- Card left frozen from the last test. Issuers sometimes freeze a card after unusual activity and never tell you. Check the app before blaming the merchant.
- Virtual BIN blocked. Some acquirers maintain a blocklist of well-known virtual ranges. Switching issuer usually clears it.
BIN ranges worth trying on Microsoft 365
Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.
Where these cards are issued
The ranges above carry issuing countries of their own. If a checkout refuses one region, the same card family often exists out of another, and the country pages group what we have tested.
Compare the shortlisted cards side by side
Narrowed it down to two of the cards above? These head-to-head pages put their issuance fee, top-up fee, KYC tier and the merchants we test into one table, so the call is easier to make.
Questions we get asked
Will a virtual card actually work on Microsoft 365?
It does. 10 of the 23 cards we tried in September got through, and 211 issuers in the database are flagged as working with this merchant. The failures we logged were range blocks, not empty balances.
Why is my normal bank card declined by Microsoft 365?
It comes down to where the card was issued. Microsoft 365 bills through an overseas acquirer, and that acquirer compares the card's country with your account region before the charge ever reaches your bank. It is a region rule, not a credit decision, which is why you never get a fraud alert.
Which one is cheapest for Microsoft 365?
Chime comes out on top at 9.8 out of 10. After that it depends on how you fund the card. A free top-up beats a cheaper signup fee the moment you keep it running past the first month.
Can I use a card with no KYC for Microsoft 365?
One of the 10 cards above is listed as No KYC: Paycek. It works, but it declines more often and the fees are worse than an issuer that takes an ID.
What does Microsoft 365 cost in total?
The card fee is the smallest part. What you actually pay is a top-up charge on every reload plus the Microsoft 365 plan. 7 of the 10 cards here skip the issuance fee entirely.
Do I have to keep the card open between Microsoft 365 renewals?
Only if you want the renewal to clear. Where the issuer allows it, freeze the card rather than closing it, then unfreeze a day before the renewal date. A closed card cannot be brought back.
How we test
23 cards went through a live Microsoft 365 checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
