Virtual Cards for Taboola: Fees, KYC and Success Rates
We would use Ramp. It costs the least to keep funded, which matters more than the signup price if you are on a monthly plan.
Our September pass on Taboola covered 27 virtual cards. 10 of them survived the billing-address check and the 3-D Secure prompt. The rest did not.
Why Taboola turns your card down
Your bank is not blocking anything, the merchant is. Taboola sees a card range it does not like and issues a soft decline before the authorization ever reaches your issuer. That is why you get no fraud alert and no explanation.

The three we would actually use
- Take Ramp if you want the lowest issuance cost (Free). Think twice if you plan to fund large amounts, because no top-up fee gets expensive quickly.
- Revolut is not the cheapest on the list, but it was the most consistent across three separate test runs. That counts for more than a dollar of savings.
- Starling Bank is not the cheapest on the list, but it was the most consistent across three separate test runs. That counts for more than a dollar of savings.
Paying Taboola with a virtual card, start to finish
-
1
Open the account
Every card here wants an ID up front. It is an automated check and rarely takes more than a few minutes. Do 2FA before the first deposit, not after.
-
2
Load a small balance
USDT and bank transfer both work. Crypto lands in minutes; a transfer is cheaper but can sit overnight. Load one month first.
-
3
Create the card
Multiple cards per account, so keep Taboola on a dedicated one. Lock it to the merchant and cap the spend. Both take seconds and neither costs anything.
-
4
Enter the details at checkout
There is an address check. Ramp issues a US General address. Paste that one, because AVS fails on a single wrong character.
-
5
Clear 3-D Secure
Approve the prompt in the issuer app, then go back and confirm the plan actually shows as active. A subscription can look paid and still be sitting in pending for an hour.
If it still will not go through
Between them these cover almost every failed attempt we have logged.
- Billing address mismatch (Ramp issues a US General address). AVS compares what you type against the address on file, and it fails on a single transposed digit. Paste it instead of retyping.
- Monthly cap reached. Cards with a hard monthly limit decline once it is used up, and the message the merchant shows is identical to a fraud block.
- Merchant switched acquirer. When a platform changes processor, ranges that cleared last month start failing with nothing changed on your side. Re-run the card before assuming it is dead.
- Spend limit too tight. If the cap sits below the plan price plus the conversion spread, the authorisation comes back as insufficient rather than blocked.
- Card left frozen from the last test. Issuers sometimes freeze a card after unusual activity and never tell you. Check the app before blaming the merchant.
BIN ranges worth trying on Taboola
Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.
Where these cards are issued
The ranges above carry issuing countries of their own. If a checkout refuses one region, the same card family often exists out of another, and the country pages group what we have tested.
Compare the shortlisted cards side by side
Down to two of them? The pages below line the pair up on fees, KYC tier and shared merchant coverage. That is usually enough to settle it.
Questions we get asked
Will a virtual card actually work on Taboola?
Yes. Of the 27 cards we put at it in September, 10 cleared. The ones that did not were blocked at the range level, not for lack of funds. 71 issuers we track carry a positive flag here.
Why is my normal bank card declined by Taboola?
Your bank is not rejecting anything. Taboola uses an overseas acquirer that screens the card's country against your account region up front. The charge is dropped before it reaches your bank, which is why there is no alert to appeal.
Which one is cheapest for Taboola?
Ramp scores highest here at 9.5/10. Past that, the funding route decides it, because a card with free top-ups beats a cheaper signup fee the moment you reload twice.
Can I use a card with no KYC for Taboola?
One of the 10 cards above is listed as No KYC: VCard. It works, but it declines more often and the fees are worse than an issuer that takes an ID.
What does Taboola cost in total?
The card fee is the smallest part. What you actually pay is a top-up charge on every reload plus the Taboola plan. 6 of the 10 cards here skip the issuance fee entirely.
Do I have to keep the card open between Taboola renewals?
Yes, unless you plan to re-enter the card every month. Freeze it between charges if the issuer supports that; closing it means starting over at the next renewal.
How we test
27 cards went through a live Taboola checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
