Virtual Cards for Paramount+: Fees, KYC and Success Rates
Wallester first. Lowest combined cost of the cards that actually worked, and the 3DS step does not ask for a phone number.
Paramount+ blocks most mainland-issued cards outright. We pushed 17 virtual cards through its checkout in September and kept the 10 that actually cleared.
Why Paramount+ turns your card down
Three checks run in sequence at Paramount+ checkout: card range, billing address, then 3-D Secure. Failing the first is instant. Failing the third produces the silent failure most people get stuck on.

10 of the 100 issuers we track carry a positive flag for Paramount+. Sorted by our blended score, which weighs fees at 40%, how reliably the card cleared at 35%, and KYC friction at 25%.

The three we would actually use
- We like Wallester mainly for the funding side. no top-up fee per top-up adds up if you pay monthly, but it is still the lowest of the cards that worked.
- We like Bybit Card mainly for the funding side. no top-up fee per top-up adds up if you pay monthly, but it is still the lowest of the cards that worked.
- Starling Bank: Free to open, no top-up fee to fund. Boring, cheap, and it passed every retry we threw at it.
Paying Paramount+ with a virtual card, start to finish
-
1
Open the account
Every card here wants an ID up front. It is an automated check and rarely takes more than a few minutes. Do 2FA before the first deposit, not after.
-
2
Load a small balance
Two ways in: crypto, which is instant, or a bank transfer, which is cheaper and slower. Start with a single month and see it clear.
-
3
Create the card
One account will hold several cards, so give Paramount+ its own and leave the rest alone. Cap it near the plan price and lock it to this merchant.
-
4
Enter the details at checkout
Paramount+ checks the address. Paste the UK General address the issuer generated instead of typing your own. One transposed digit is enough to fail it.
-
5
Clear 3-D Secure
The OTP lands in the issuer app. Approve it, then check the account, because a charge can sit in pending after the bank has already said yes.
If it still will not go through
Between them these cover almost every failed attempt we have logged.
- Billing address mismatch (Starling Bank issues a UK General address). AVS compares what you type against the address on file, and it fails on a single transposed digit. Paste it instead of retyping.
- Virtual BIN blocked. Some acquirers maintain a blocklist of well-known virtual ranges. Switching issuer usually clears it.
- Geo mismatch. Signing up in one country and paying with a card from another is the fastest route to a manual review.
- Three declines in a row. Most checkouts lock the payment method after three failures. Change the card instead of pressing the button again.
- Trial already claimed. If the free trial was used on that account before, the card gets charged immediately and often flagged as fraud.
BIN ranges worth trying on Paramount+
Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.
Where these cards are issued
Every range above is tied to an issuing country. When a merchant turns one region away, the same brand frequently issues from a second one — the country pages below collect those.
Compare the shortlisted cards side by side
Narrowed it down to two of the cards above? These head-to-head pages put their issuance fee, top-up fee, KYC tier and the merchants we test into one table, so the call is easier to make.
Questions we get asked
Will a virtual card actually work on Paramount+?
It does. 10 of the 17 cards we tried in September got through, and 100 issuers in the database are flagged as working with this merchant. The failures we logged were range blocks, not empty balances.
Why is my normal bank card declined by Paramount+?
It comes down to where the card was issued. Paramount+ bills through an overseas acquirer, and that acquirer compares the card's country with your account region before the charge ever reaches your bank. It is a region rule, not a credit decision, which is why you never get a fraud alert.
Which one is cheapest for Paramount+?
Wallester comes out on top at 9.7 out of 10. After that it depends on how you fund the card. A free top-up beats a cheaper signup fee the moment you keep it running past the first month.
Can I use a card with no KYC for Paramount+?
One of the 10 cards above is listed as No KYC: Atlas Rewards Credit Card (US). It works, but it declines more often and the fees are worse than an issuer that takes an ID.
What does Paramount+ cost in total?
Budget for the plan price first, then the top-up percentage, then the card fee last. Of the 10 cards above, 8 charge nothing to issue.
Do I have to keep the card open between Paramount+ renewals?
It is easier to leave it open, or frozen, than to close it. Closing cannot be undone, and a lapsed renewal is usually more hassle than the card sitting idle.
How we test
17 cards went through a live Paramount+ checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
