Paying for v0.dev With a Virtual Card: What Actually Passes
Mountain Wolf is the safe pick. Privacy.com, Revolut are cheaper on paper but we saw uneven results on repeat billing.
If you have already spent an afternoon retrying the same card on v0.dev, stop. It is almost always the same three causes, and a virtual card fixes two of them.
Why v0.dev turns your card down
The decline is a BIN mismatch. v0.dev bills through an overseas acquirer, and that acquirer compares three things: the country your card was issued in, the billing address on file, and the country your account is registered in. Two out of three is not enough.

The three we would actually use
- Mountain Wolf is the one we would actually keep. Virtual card free up front, 0% on top-ups, and the 3DS flow does not demand a phone number you do not have.
- Take Privacy.com if you want the lowest issuance cost (Free). Think twice if you plan to fund large amounts, because no top-up fee gets expensive quickly.
- Revolut: Free to open, no top-up fee to fund. Boring, cheap, and it passed every retry we threw at it.
Paying v0.dev with a virtual card, start to finish
-
1
Open the account
All 3 ask for an ID before the first card exists. The check is automated and usually clears in minutes. Turn on 2FA before you fund anything.
-
2
Load a small balance
Fund with USDT if you need it today, bank transfer if you can wait a day. One month is plenty to prove the card works. Mountain Wolf charges 0% per top-up.
-
3
Create the card
You can spin up more than one card here, which is worth doing: v0.dev gets its own, everything else stays off it. Set the limit just above the plan price.
-
4
Enter the details at checkout
v0.dev checks the address. Paste the US General address the issuer generated instead of typing your own. One transposed digit is enough to fail it.
-
5
Clear 3-D Secure
Approve the prompt in the issuer app, then go back and confirm the plan actually shows as active. A subscription can look paid and still be sitting in pending for an hour.
If it still will not go through
Between them these cover almost every failed attempt we have logged.
- Billing address mismatch (Privacy.com issues a US General address). AVS compares what you type against the address on file, and it fails on a single transposed digit. Paste it instead of retyping.
- Virtual BIN blocked. Some acquirers maintain a blocklist of well-known virtual ranges. Switching issuer usually clears it.
- Geo mismatch. Signing up in one country and paying with a card from another is the fastest route to a manual review.
- Three declines in a row. Most checkouts lock the payment method after three failures. Change the card instead of pressing the button again.
- Trial already claimed. If the free trial was used on that account before, the card gets charged immediately and often flagged as fraud.
BIN ranges worth trying on v0.dev
Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.
Where these cards are issued
Every range above is tied to an issuing country. When a merchant turns one region away, the same brand frequently issues from a second one — the country pages below collect those.
Compare the shortlisted cards side by side
Narrowed it down to two of the cards above? These head-to-head pages put their issuance fee, top-up fee, KYC tier and the merchants we test into one table, so the call is easier to make.
Questions we get asked
Will a virtual card actually work on v0.dev?
In our tests, yes. We ran 17 cards against it in September and the 10 below are the ones that went through. Failures were almost all range blocks rather than balance problems, and 58 issuers in our database carry a positive flag for this merchant.
Why is my normal bank card declined by v0.dev?
Your bank is not rejecting anything. v0.dev uses an overseas acquirer that screens the card's country against your account region up front. The charge is dropped before it reaches your bank, which is why there is no alert to appeal.
Which one is cheapest for v0.dev?
Mountain Wolf comes out on top at 9.7 out of 10. After that it depends on how you fund the card. A free top-up beats a cheaper signup fee the moment you keep it running past the first month.
Can I use a card with no KYC for v0.dev?
2 of the 10 cards above are listed as No KYC: Pikabao, VCard. They work, but they decline more often and the fees are worse than an issuer that takes an ID.
What does v0.dev cost in total?
Budget for the plan price first, then the top-up percentage, then the card fee last. Of the 10 cards above, 5 charge nothing to issue.
Do I have to keep the card open between v0.dev renewals?
Only if you want the renewal to clear. Where the issuer allows it, freeze the card rather than closing it, then unfreeze a day before the renewal date. A closed card cannot be brought back.
How we test
17 cards went through a live v0.dev checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
