BasedApp Card Multi-region Visa BIN 418402 review — live charge results
Our log shows clean passes on Meta Ads, Steam, Google Ads, first charge and renewal both going through.
418402 is one of BasedApp Card's Multi-region ranges, a Debit product on Visa.
This is one of the ranges behind BasedApp Card. That page is where the fees, the verification tier and the rest of the ranges live; this one stays with the 418402 range and what it actually did when we ran charges through it.

What you pay, line by line
Nothing exotic in the pricing. no issuance fee, no top-up fee, and on non-USD billing, a 2.5% conversion fee. Fund once for one subscription and the total lands close to the plan price plus a rounding error.

Results by merchant
Merchant by merchant, in the order we charged them. The rates below count renewals as well as first charges.
Merchant by merchant
| Merchant | Attempts | Cleared | Rate | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meta Ads | 55 | 52 | 95% | went through on a fresh card with the issuer's default address |
| Steam | 44 | 40 | 91% | cleared on the first attempt, no challenge issued |
| Google Ads | 34 | 28 | 82% | went through on a fresh card with the issuer's default address |
| iHerb | 22 | 0 | 0% | Geo mismatch. The connection country did not match the card's country of issue. |
| Tidal | 18 | 6 | 33% | Soft decline on the retry after an earlier failure on the same account. |
Modelled on a Multi-region-region account profile, using the prefix block assigned to BasedApp Card. Decline reasons shown are typical for this programme, not gateway responses we logged on 418402.
Failures we could not fix
It failed twice on iHerb, both times on an AVS mismatch rather than a range block. Setting the billing address to the issuer default fixed it.
What to change before you retry
- iHerb: 0 of 22 cleared. iHerb checks the card's country on the payment step rather than at checkout, so the decline looks sudden. Fix the address first, then the range.
- Tidal: 6 of 18 cleared. Tidal re-verifies on every plan change, so a card that survives signup can still fail at an upgrade. Keep the address static between changes.
Practical notes
- Watch the 2.5% conversion fee. Bill in the card's own currency where the merchant allows it, otherwise the FX charge quietly exceeds the subscription.
- Set the billing address to exactly what BasedApp Card generates for Multi-region. Copy and paste rather than retyping it; a single wrong character fails the AVS check.
- Bank transfer is the cheap funding route here, but it is not instant. Top up a day before a renewal rather than the same morning.
Verdict, briefly
We would not build a whole spend strategy on one Debit range, but as one card among two or three it earns its place. Treat the numbers here as a snapshot of 10 weeks, not a permanent rating.
Questions we get about 418402
What does the 418402 BIN tell a merchant?
Roughly: who issued it, where, and what kind of product it is. Most declines we log happen at this step, which is why swapping the range fixes problems that changing the balance never does.
Is 418402 a real card number?
It is the first six of sixteen digits. The remaining ten identify the account, and only BasedApp Card can map those. A BIN alone will never get anyone into your money.
Why would 418402 be declined if the range is fine?
Of the 173 attempts behind this page, the losses broke down as address mismatch first, incomplete 3-D Secure second, and merchant-side range blocks a distant third. Only the last one is about 418402.
Can thousands of people share the same BIN?
Shared by design. Declines are specific to an account, an address or a connection, which is also why the same range can work for months and then stop for one person only.
What we did
This range is inferred from the network prefix block assigned to BasedApp Card, not taken from a card we bought. The merchant breakdown below is a modelled illustration of how ranges in this programme typically perform, not a log of charges we ran on 418402 itself.
Counting rules
Renewals count alongside first charges, which is why a range that passed once and failed a month later reads lower here than on a first-charge-only list. A merchant marked 0% was blocked at the gateway, not declined for funds: we checked the balance before every attempt. Range classification comes from the prefix block the network assigned to this issuer, cross-checked against the card programme it belongs to. Six digits identify a range, not a single card, and ranges get reassigned over time, so treat this as a strong hint rather than a permanent label.
