How to Pay for iHerb with a Virtual Credit Card

What we would pick

Mountain Wolf first. Lowest combined cost of the cards that actually worked, and the 3DS step does not ask for a phone number.

You need a card whose BIN country matches the region on your iHerb account. That is the whole trick. Fees and the rest are below.

Why iHerb turns your card down

iHerb tightened its card checks through 2025 and again this year. Cards that worked for people two years ago frequently do not work now.

Both fixes are on your side of the transaction: match the card's country to the region your iHerb account is registered in, and paste the issuer's billing address without editing it.

10 of the 211 issuers we track carry a positive flag for iHerb. Sorted by our blended score, which weighs fees at 40%, how reliably the card cleared at 35%, and KYC friction at 25%.

The three we would actually use

Paying iHerb with a virtual card, start to finish

  1. 1

    Open the account

Have an ID ready; all 3 want one before they will issue. The check runs automatically. Set up 2FA while you wait, not once money is on the card.

  2. 2

    Load a small balance

Fund with USDT if you need it today, bank transfer if you can wait a day. One month is plenty to prove the card works. Mountain Wolf charges 0% per top-up.

  3. 3

    Create the card

You can spin up more than one card here, which is worth doing: iHerb gets its own, everything else stays off it. Set the limit just above the plan price.

    Enter the details at checkout

AVS is on here, so the US General address on PayPal Key has to go in exactly as issued. Copy it out of the app; do not retype it.

BIN ranges worth trying on iHerb

Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.

Where these cards are issued

Issuing country matters as much as the brand here. Where one region is refused, another is often accepted, so these pages group what we have tested by where the card was issued.

Compare the shortlisted cards side by side

Narrowed it down to two of the cards above? These head-to-head pages put their issuance fee, top-up fee, KYC tier and the merchants we test into one table, so the call is easier to make.

Questions we get asked

Will a virtual card actually work on iHerb?

In our tests, yes. We ran 13 cards against it in September and the 10 below are the ones that went through. Failures were almost all range blocks rather than balance problems, and 211 issuers in our database carry a positive flag for this merchant.

Why is my normal bank card declined by iHerb?

It comes down to where the card was issued. iHerb bills through an overseas acquirer, and that acquirer compares the card's country with your account region before the charge ever reaches your bank. It is a region rule, not a credit decision, which is why you never get a fraud alert.

Which one is cheapest for iHerb?

On our numbers Mountain Wolf leads at 9.8 out of 10. The rest is down to top-up cost: waived top-up fees matter more than a lower issuance fee once you are past month one.

Can I use a card with no KYC for iHerb?

One of the 10 cards above is listed as No KYC: Paycek. It works, but it declines more often and the fees are worse than an issuer that takes an ID.

What does iHerb cost in total?

Three things add up: the one-off card fee, a top-up fee each time you fund, and the iHerb plan itself. On this page 7 of the 10 cards cost nothing to create. Spend limits and freezing are free everywhere.

Do I have to keep the card open between iHerb renewals?

Only if you want the renewal to clear. Where the issuer allows it, freeze the card rather than closing it, then unfreeze a day before the renewal date. A closed card cannot be brought back.

How we test

13 cards went through a live iHerb checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
