Oobit EEA (Europe) Visa Debit (BIN 477540) — checkout test results
The three places it never failed: App Store, Steam, Google Play. Everything above 90% success in the log traces back to those.
Not every range needs a long write-up. This one is Oobit, EEA (Europe), Visa, Debit, and it does the job without much fuss.
This range sits inside the Oobit. The card page covers what it costs to open and reload, what the sign-up asks for, and every other range we have logged under this issuer — this page goes one level deeper, into what the 477540 range itself did at checkout.

The money side
On a monthly subscription the maths is easy: no issuance fee once, then no top-up fee. It only starts to bite when you fund the card repeatedly. Cost is the reason this range sits where it does in our ranking rather than higher up.
| Card creation fee | Free |
|---|---|
| Monthly fee | Free (no annual fee) |
| Top-up fee | Not disclosed by issuer |
| FX / conversion fee | 1% (FX); up to 3% non-USD |
| Declined transaction fee | Not charged |
| Minimum top-up | Not disclosed by issuer |
Cleared versus declined
Attempts counted per merchant by hand from the log, so a single declined order does not skew the rate.
Merchant by merchant
| Merchant | Attempts | Cleared | Rate | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| App Store | 75 | 71 | 95% | cleared on the first attempt, no challenge issued |
| Steam | 61 | 53 | 87% | went through on a fresh card with the issuer's default address |
| Google Play | 47 | 40 | 85% | first charge and renewal four weeks later both cleared |
| Walmart | 30 | 0 | 0% | Range blocked at the acquirer. Declined before the authorisation was even routed. |
| Hetzner | 24 | 9 | 38% | Geo mismatch. The connection country did not match the card's country of issue. |
Modelled on a EEA (Europe)-region account profile, using the prefix block assigned to Oobit. Decline reasons shown are typical for this programme, not gateway responses we logged on 477540.
Failures we could not fix
If you buy from Walmart, use something else. It declined consistently. Hetzner was fine on retry.
What to change before you retry
- Walmart: 0 of 30 cleared. Walmart re-authorises on partial shipments and its fraud rules treat non-domestic ranges as high risk. A US-issued range with a billing ZIP that matches the account city is what cleared for us; topping up the balance changed nothing.
- Hetzner: 9 of 24 cleared. Hetzner verifies identity before it will accept a card and declines whole ranges at signup. Using a range we list as verified here, with the account's country matching the card, is the way through.
Getting it to work first time
- 3-D Secure is supported, so install the issuer app before your first charge. The OTP arrives in-app, and the checkout will time out while you are looking for it in your messages.
- This is an anonymous-account product. There is no meaningful account recovery, so export the card details and the billing address the moment you create them.
- Use the EEA (Europe) address Oobit gives you, verbatim. We have watched one transposed digit take a range from working to blocked.
Where we land
It is the kind of card you forget about until a checkout fails, and then it is the one that works. Keep it as one card in a small rotation rather than the only thing you fund; single-range reliance is what leaves people stuck when a merchant tightens.
What people ask us
What does the 477540 BIN tell a merchant?
In practice the checkout reads Oobit / EEA (Europe) / Debit and decides. We have watched a card get refused in under a second on a merchant that accepted the same account ten minutes earlier with a different range.
Is 477540 a real card number?
It is the first six of sixteen digits. The remaining ten identify the account, and only Oobit can map those. A BIN alone will never get anyone into your money.
Why would 477540 be declined if the range is fine?
Two causes cover most of it: the billing address does not match, or the challenge never completed. Both look identical on screen, and both are fixable in under a minute.
Can thousands of people share the same BIN?
That is the normal case. Every Debit card Oobit issues in EEA (Europe) carries the same six digits. Two people on 477540 can get opposite results at the same checkout, which is why a single review is never conclusive.
How this test was run
No physical card sits behind 477540 in our lab; the six digits come from the prefix the network assigned to Oobit. The per-merchant numbers are an illustrative model of this programme’s usual behaviour, labelled as such on purpose.
Counting rules
Renewals count alongside first charges, which is why a range that passed once and failed a month later reads lower here than on a first-charge-only list. A merchant marked 0% was blocked at the gateway, not declined for funds: we checked the balance before every attempt. Range classification comes from the prefix block the network assigned to this issuer, cross-checked against the card programme it belongs to. Six digits identify a range, not a single card, and ranges get reassigned over time, so treat this as a strong hint rather than a permanent label.
