Virtual Card Options for Udio AI: What Cleared Our Charges
Chime first. Lowest combined cost of the cards that actually worked, and the 3DS step does not ask for a phone number.
Most people land here after three or four failed attempts on Udio AI. We ran 24 cards so you do not have to repeat the experiment yourself.
Why Udio AI turns your card down
Udio AI tightened its card checks through 2025 and again this year. Cards that worked for people two years ago frequently do not work now.

The three we would actually use
- We had Chime fail once, on a Sunday, then succeed on the retry. Worth knowing before you write it off.
- Take Starling Bank if you want the lowest issuance cost (Free). Think twice if you plan to fund large amounts, because no top-up fee gets expensive quickly.
- Privacy.com is the cheapest route we found: Free to issue, no top-up fee on funding, and it cleared on the first attempt.
Paying Udio AI with a virtual card, start to finish
-
1
Open the account
All 3 ask for an ID before the first card exists. The check is automated and usually clears in minutes. Turn on 2FA before you fund anything.
-
2
Load a small balance
Bank transfer is the only route and it is not instant. Top up a day before the renewal rather than on the day, and leave the balance a little above the plan price.
-
3
Create the card
You can spin up more than one card here, which is worth doing: Udio AI gets its own, everything else stays off it. Set the limit just above the plan price.
-
4
Enter the details at checkout
Udio AI checks the address. Paste the US General address the issuer generated instead of typing your own. One transposed digit is enough to fail it.
-
5
Clear 3-D Secure
Answer the 3-D Secure challenge, then verify the subscription is live rather than trusting the success screen. Pending charges do happen.
If it still will not go through
Between them these cover almost every failed attempt we have logged.
- Billing address mismatch (Chime issues a US General address). AVS compares what you type against the address on file, and it fails on a single transposed digit. Paste it instead of retyping.
- Merchant switched acquirer. When a platform changes processor, ranges that cleared last month start failing with nothing changed on your side. Re-run the card before assuming it is dead.
- Spend limit too tight. If the cap sits below the plan price plus the conversion spread, the authorisation comes back as insufficient rather than blocked.
- Card left frozen from the last test. Issuers sometimes freeze a card after unusual activity and never tell you. Check the app before blaming the merchant.
- Virtual BIN blocked. Some acquirers maintain a blocklist of well-known virtual ranges. Switching issuer usually clears it.
BIN ranges worth trying on Udio AI
Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.
Where these cards are issued
The ranges above carry issuing countries of their own. If a checkout refuses one region, the same card family often exists out of another, and the country pages group what we have tested.
Compare the shortlisted cards side by side
Down to two of them? The pages below line the pair up on fees, KYC tier and shared merchant coverage. That is usually enough to settle it.
Questions we get asked
Will a virtual card actually work on Udio AI?
It does. 10 of the 24 cards we tried in September got through, and 58 issuers in the database are flagged as working with this merchant. The failures we logged were range blocks, not empty balances.
Why is my normal bank card declined by Udio AI?
Region, mostly. Udio AI routes through an acquirer outside your home market, and that acquirer checks the card's issuing country against your account region first. Your bank never sees the charge, so nothing shows up as fraud on your side.
Which one is cheapest for Udio AI?
Chime scores highest here at 9.8/10. Past that, the funding route decides it, because a card with free top-ups beats a cheaper signup fee the moment you reload twice.
Can I use a card with no KYC for Udio AI?
No card here is verification-free. The least demanding are Chime, Privacy.com, Bybit Card, which stop at an ID. For a charge that repeats every month, that is the sensible middle ground.
What does Udio AI cost in total?
Three things add up: the one-off card fee, a top-up fee each time you fund, and the Udio AI plan itself. On this page 6 of the 10 cards cost nothing to create. Spend limits and freezing are free everywhere.
Do I have to keep the card open between Udio AI renewals?
Only if you want the renewal to clear. Where the issuer allows it, freeze the card rather than closing it, then unfreeze a day before the renewal date. A closed card cannot be brought back.
How we test
24 cards went through a live Udio AI checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
