ThunderSub Multi-region Visa (BIN 486864) — checkout test results
It works on Spotify Premium, Disney+, OpenAI. Those three account for most of the 121 successful charges we recorded.
Not every range needs a long write-up. This one is ThunderSub, Multi-region, Visa, Prepaid, and it does the job without much fuss.
This range sits inside the ThunderSub. The card page covers what it costs to open and reload, what the sign-up asks for, and every other range we have logged under this issuer — this page goes one level deeper, into what the 486864 range itself did at checkout.

What passed and what did not
Everything we pushed through this range, including the merchants it never cleared.
Merchant by merchant
| Merchant | Attempts | Cleared | Rate | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spotify Premium | 54 | 50 | 93% | went through on a fresh card with the issuer's default address |

| OpenAI | 33 | 27 | 82% | cleared first time; a second charge a week later also went through |
| Walmart | 21 | 0 | 0% | AVS mismatch. The ZIP on file did not match the address registered to the card. |
| StockX | 18 | 6 | 33% | 3-D Secure challenge never completed. The order timed out waiting for the OTP. |
Modelled on a Multi-region-region account profile, using the prefix block assigned to ThunderSub. Decline reasons shown are typical for this programme, not gateway responses we logged on 486864.
Failures we could not fix
If you buy from Walmart, use something else. It declined consistently. StockX was fine on retry.
What to change before you retry
- Walmart: 0 of 21 cleared. Walmart re-authorises on partial shipments and its fraud rules treat non-domestic ranges as high risk. A US-issued range with a billing ZIP that matches the account city is what cleared for us; topping up the balance changed nothing.
- StockX: 6 of 18 cleared. Charges only happen when a bid is accepted, so the balance has to be sitting there before the seller responds. A card that funds on demand is what fails here, not the range.
Three things worth doing
- This is an anonymous-account product. There is no meaningful account recovery, so export the card details and the billing address the moment you create them.
- Paste the Multi-region billing address ThunderSub generates rather than typing your own. One transposed digit is enough to fail the check.
- This range does not advertise 3-D Secure. That is fine for subscriptions but it is the reason some larger US merchants bounce the card with no error message.
Worth it?
If you only need one subscription this is more than enough. If you are running paid traffic at volume the $10 flat commission on loads unde… funding fee starts to hurt around the third month. Ranked on cost alone it sits mid-table. Ranked on consistency it moves up a few places.
What people ask us
What does the 486864 BIN tell a merchant?
Roughly: who issued it, where, and what kind of product it is. Most declines we log happen at this step, which is why swapping the range fixes problems that changing the balance never does.
Is 486864 a real card number?
Six digits of a sixteen-digit number. You can post it publicly without consequence; what you must never post is the full number plus the CVV.
Why would 486864 be declined if the range is fine?
Changing one variable at a time is the only way to diagnose this. Address first, then card, then the connection country. We have seen people change all three and learn nothing.
Can thousands of people share the same BIN?
Shared by design. Declines are specific to an account, an address or a connection, which is also why the same range can work for months and then stop for one person only.
Test setup
No physical card sits behind 486864 in our lab; the six digits come from the prefix the network assigned to ThunderSub. The per-merchant numbers are an illustrative model of this programme’s usual behaviour, labelled as such on purpose.
Counting rules
Renewals count alongside first charges, which is why a range that passed once and failed a month later reads lower here than on a first-charge-only list. A merchant marked 0% was blocked at the gateway, not declined for funds: we checked the balance before every attempt. Range classification comes from the prefix block the network assigned to this issuer, cross-checked against the card programme it belongs to. Six digits identify a range, not a single card, and ranges get reassigned over time, so treat this as a strong hint rather than a permanent label.
