Virtual Cards for PlayStation Network: Fees, KYC and Success Rates
Top three for September: Bleap, Paycek, YEX. Bleap came out ahead once issuance and funding fees were added up.
You need a card whose BIN country matches the region on your PlayStation Network account. That is the whole trick. Fees and the rest are below.
Why PlayStation Network turns your card down
PlayStation Network tightened its card checks through 2025 and again this year. Cards that worked for people two years ago frequently do not work now.

The three we would actually use
- We had Bleap fail once, on a Sunday, then succeed on the retry. Worth knowing before you write it off.
- Paycek is not the cheapest on the list, but it was the most consistent across three separate test runs. That counts for more than a dollar of savings.
- YEX is the cheapest route we found: $0 to issue, no top-up fee on funding, and it cleared on the first attempt.
Paying PlayStation Network with a virtual card, start to finish
-
1
Open the account
Verification is uneven across these 3: some want only an ID, others want proof of address too. Choose the tier you are comfortable with and enable 2FA before funding.
-
2
Load a small balance
Crypto is the way in here. USDT arrives in minutes, which matters if the renewal is today. Put in one month's worth and watch it clear first. Bleap charges 0% per top-up.
-
3
Create the card
One account will hold several cards, so give PlayStation Network its own and leave the rest alone. Cap it near the plan price and lock it to this merchant.
-
4
Enter the details at checkout
No address check here, so number, expiry and CVV are all that matter. Still paste rather than type. A slipped digit looks exactly like a declined card.
-
5
Clear 3-D Secure
Answer the 3-D Secure challenge, then verify the subscription is live rather than trusting the success screen. Pending charges do happen.
If it still will not go through
Between them these cover almost every failed attempt we have logged.
- Trial already claimed. If the free trial was used on that account before, the card gets charged immediately and often flagged as fraud.
- Debit range, credit-only acquirer. A handful of processors refuse debit BINs outright, before any balance check runs. Try a credit range from the table.
- Monthly cap reached. Cards with a hard monthly limit decline once it is used up, and the message the merchant shows is identical to a fraud block.
- Merchant switched acquirer. When a platform changes processor, ranges that cleared last month start failing with nothing changed on your side. Re-run the card before assuming it is dead.
- Spend limit too tight. If the cap sits below the plan price plus the conversion spread, the authorisation comes back as insufficient rather than blocked.
BIN ranges worth trying on PlayStation Network
Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.
Where these cards are issued
Every range above is tied to an issuing country. When a merchant turns one region away, the same brand frequently issues from a second one — the country pages below collect those.
Compare the shortlisted cards side by side
Down to two of them? The pages below line the pair up on fees, KYC tier and shared merchant coverage. That is usually enough to settle it.
Questions we get asked
Will a virtual card actually work on PlayStation Network?
Yes. Of the 31 cards we put at it in September, 10 cleared. The ones that did not were blocked at the range level, not for lack of funds. 211 issuers we track carry a positive flag here.
Why is my normal bank card declined by PlayStation Network?
Your bank is not rejecting anything. PlayStation Network uses an overseas acquirer that screens the card's country against your account region up front. The charge is dropped before it reaches your bank, which is why there is no alert to appeal.
Which one is cheapest for PlayStation Network?
Bleap scores highest here at 9.8/10. Past that, the funding route decides it, because a card with free top-ups beats a cheaper signup fee the moment you reload twice.
Can I use a card with no KYC for PlayStation Network?
2 of the 10 cards above are listed as No KYC: Paycek, Pikabao. They work, but they decline more often and the fees are worse than an issuer that takes an ID.
What does PlayStation Network cost in total?
Three things add up: the one-off card fee, a top-up fee each time you fund, and the PlayStation Network plan itself. On this page 6 of the 10 cards cost nothing to create. Spend limits and freezing are free everywhere.
Do I have to keep the card open between PlayStation Network renewals?
It is easier to leave it open, or frozen, than to close it. Closing cannot be undone, and a lapsed renewal is usually more hassle than the card sitting idle.
How we test
31 cards went through a live PlayStation Network checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
