How to Pay for TikTok Ads with a Virtual Credit Card
Starling Bank first. Lowest combined cost of the cards that actually worked, and the 3DS step does not ask for a phone number.
If you have already spent an afternoon retrying the same card on TikTok Ads, stop. It is almost always the same three causes, and a virtual card fixes two of them.
Why TikTok Ads turns your card down
The decline is a BIN mismatch. TikTok Ads bills through an overseas acquirer, and that acquirer compares three things: the country your card was issued in, the billing address on file, and the country your account is registered in. Two out of three is not enough.

The three we would actually use
- Starling Bank is the cheapest route we found: Free to issue, no top-up fee on funding, and it cleared on the first attempt.
- Privacy.com scored 8.9/10. Nothing about it is remarkable except that it kept working when others stopped.
- Pikabao is not the cheapest on the list, but it was the most consistent across three separate test runs. That counts for more than a dollar of savings.
Paying TikTok Ads with a virtual card, start to finish
-
1
Open the account
No ID at Pikabao, so you can be placing a charge in minutes. The others ask for one. Enable 2FA before you fund, not after.
-
2
Load a small balance
USDT and bank transfer both work. Crypto lands in minutes; a transfer is cheaper but can sit overnight. Load one month first.
-
3
Create the card
You can spin up more than one card here, which is worth doing: TikTok Ads gets its own, everything else stays off it. Set the limit just above the plan price.
-
4
Enter the details at checkout
TikTok Ads checks the address. Paste the UK General address the issuer generated instead of typing your own. One transposed digit is enough to fail it.
-
5
Clear 3-D Secure
The OTP lands in the issuer app. Approve it, then check the account, because a charge can sit in pending after the bank has already said yes.
If it still will not go through
Between them these cover almost every failed attempt we have logged.
- Billing address mismatch (Starling Bank issues a UK General address). AVS compares what you type against the address on file, and it fails on a single transposed digit. Paste it instead of retyping.
- Geo mismatch. Signing up in one country and paying with a card from another is the fastest route to a manual review.
- Three declines in a row. Most checkouts lock the payment method after three failures. Change the card instead of pressing the button again.
- Trial already claimed. If the free trial was used on that account before, the card gets charged immediately and often flagged as fraud.
- Debit range, credit-only acquirer. A handful of processors refuse debit BINs outright, before any balance check runs. Try a credit range from the table.
BIN ranges worth trying on TikTok Ads
Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.
Where these cards are issued
The ranges above carry issuing countries of their own. If a checkout refuses one region, the same card family often exists out of another, and the country pages group what we have tested.
Compare the shortlisted cards side by side
Down to two of them? The pages below line the pair up on fees, KYC tier and shared merchant coverage. That is usually enough to settle it.
Questions we get asked
Will a virtual card actually work on TikTok Ads?
It does. 10 of the 13 cards we tried in September got through, and 71 issuers in the database are flagged as working with this merchant. The failures we logged were range blocks, not empty balances.
Why is my normal bank card declined by TikTok Ads?
Region, mostly. TikTok Ads routes through an acquirer outside your home market, and that acquirer checks the card's issuing country against your account region first. Your bank never sees the charge, so nothing shows up as fraud on your side.
Which one is cheapest for TikTok Ads?
Starling Bank scores highest here at 9.4/10. Past that, the funding route decides it, because a card with free top-ups beats a cheaper signup fee the moment you reload twice.
Can I use a card with no KYC for TikTok Ads?
2 of the 10 cards above are listed as No KYC: Pikabao, VCard. They work, but they decline more often and the fees are worse than an issuer that takes an ID.
What does TikTok Ads cost in total?
Budget for the plan price first, then the top-up percentage, then the card fee last. Of the 10 cards above, 7 charge nothing to issue.
Do I have to keep the card open between TikTok Ads renewals?
Yes, unless you plan to re-enter the card every month. Freeze it between charges if the issuer supports that; closing it means starting over at the next renewal.
How we test
13 cards went through a live TikTok Ads checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
