Claude.ai and Virtual Cards: Tested Options

What we would pick

We would use Bleap. It costs the least to keep funded, which matters more than the signup price if you are on a monthly plan.

3-D Secure requiredRecurring billing OKNon-CN BIN42 issuers tracked24 tested this month

Our September pass on Claude.ai covered 24 virtual cards. 10 of them survived the billing-address check and the 3-D Secure prompt. The rest did not.

Why Claude.ai turns your card down

Your bank is not blocking anything, the merchant is. Claude.ai sees a card range it does not like and issues a soft decline before the authorization ever reaches your issuer. That is why you get no fraud alert and no explanation.

Both fixes are on your side of the transaction: match the card's country to the region your Claude.ai account is registered in, and paste the issuer's billing address without editing it.

The three we would actually use

Paying Claude.ai with a virtual card, start to finish

  1. 1

    Open the account

Have an ID ready; all 3 want one before they will issue. The check runs automatically. Set up 2FA while you wait, not once money is on the card.

  2. 2

    Load a small balance

Fund with USDT if you need it today, bank transfer if you can wait a day. One month is plenty to prove the card works. Bleap charges 0% per top-up.

  3. 3

    Create the card

One account will hold several cards, so give Claude.ai its own and leave the rest alone. Cap it near the plan price and lock it to this merchant.

BIN ranges worth trying on Claude.ai

Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.

Where these cards are issued

Issuing country matters as much as the brand here. Where one region is refused, another is often accepted, so these pages group what we have tested by where the card was issued.

Compare the shortlisted cards side by side

Down to two of them? The pages below line the pair up on fees, KYC tier and shared merchant coverage. That is usually enough to settle it.

Questions we get asked

Will a virtual card actually work on Claude.ai?

It does. 10 of the 24 cards we tried in September got through, and 42 issuers in the database are flagged as working with this merchant. The failures we logged were range blocks, not empty balances.

Why is my normal bank card declined by Claude.ai?

Region, mostly. Claude.ai routes through an acquirer outside your home market, and that acquirer checks the card's issuing country against your account region first. Your bank never sees the charge, so nothing shows up as fraud on your side.

Which one is cheapest for Claude.ai?

Bleap scores highest here at 9.8/10. Past that, the funding route decides it, because a card with free top-ups beats a cheaper signup fee the moment you reload twice.

Can I use a card with no KYC for Claude.ai?

Every card on this page asks for something. Chime, Privacy.com, Revolut stop at an ID, with no address documents, which is usually enough for a subscription.

What does Claude.ai cost in total?

Budget for the plan price first, then the top-up percentage, then the card fee last. Of the 10 cards above, 8 charge nothing to issue.

Do I have to keep the card open between Claude.ai renewals?

Yes, unless you plan to re-enter the card every month. Freeze it between charges if the issuer supports that; closing it means starting over at the next renewal.

How we test

24 cards went through a live Claude.ai checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
