Hugging Face Payment Declined? Virtual Card Options That Work
Cheapest way in is Bleap, Chime, Mountain Wolf. That is also the order we would try them in.
Hugging Face blocks most mainland-issued cards outright. We pushed 23 virtual cards through its checkout in September and kept the 10 that actually cleared.
Why Hugging Face turns your card down
Three checks run in sequence at Hugging Face checkout: card range, billing address, then 3-D Secure. Failing the first is instant. Failing the third produces the silent failure most people get stuck on.

10 of the 58 issuers we track carry a positive flag for Hugging Face. Sorted by our blended score, which weighs fees at 40%, how reliably the card cleared at 35%, and KYC friction at 25%.

The three we would actually use
- We like Bleap mainly for the funding side. 0% per top-up adds up if you pay monthly, but it is still the lowest of the cards that worked.
- Chime is the one we would actually keep. Free up front, no top-up fee on top-ups, and the 3DS flow does not demand a phone number you do not have.
- Mountain Wolf scored 9.0/10. Nothing about it is remarkable except that it kept working when others stopped.
Paying Hugging Face with a virtual card, start to finish
-
1
Open the account
Every card here wants an ID up front. It is an automated check and rarely takes more than a few minutes. Do 2FA before the first deposit, not after.
-
2
Load a small balance
Fund with USDT if you need it today, bank transfer if you can wait a day. One month is plenty to prove the card works. Bleap charges 0% per top-up.
-
3
Create the card
You can spin up more than one card here, which is worth doing: Hugging Face gets its own, everything else stays off it. Set the limit just above the plan price.
-
4
Enter the details at checkout
AVS is on here, so the US General address on Chime has to go in exactly as issued. Copy it out of the app; do not retype it.
-
5
Clear 3-D Secure
Approve the prompt in the issuer app, then go back and confirm the plan actually shows as active. A subscription can look paid and still be sitting in pending for an hour.
If it still will not go through
Between them these cover almost every failed attempt we have logged.
- Billing address mismatch (Chime issues a US General address). AVS compares what you type against the address on file, and it fails on a single transposed digit. Paste it instead of retyping.
- Virtual BIN blocked. Some acquirers maintain a blocklist of well-known virtual ranges. Switching issuer usually clears it.
- Geo mismatch. Signing up in one country and paying with a card from another is the fastest route to a manual review.
- Three declines in a row. Most checkouts lock the payment method after three failures. Change the card instead of pressing the button again.
- Trial already claimed. If the free trial was used on that account before, the card gets charged immediately and often flagged as fraud.
BIN ranges worth trying on Hugging Face
Each range has its own issuer, country and card type. If a merchant blocks one, move to another rather than retrying.
Where these cards are issued
Every range above is tied to an issuing country. When a merchant turns one region away, the same brand frequently issues from a second one — the country pages below collect those.
Compare the shortlisted cards side by side
Down to two of them? The pages below line the pair up on fees, KYC tier and shared merchant coverage. That is usually enough to settle it.
Questions we get asked
Will a virtual card actually work on Hugging Face?
Yes. Of the 23 cards we put at it in September, 10 cleared. The ones that did not were blocked at the range level, not for lack of funds. 58 issuers we track carry a positive flag here.
Why is my normal bank card declined by Hugging Face?
Region, mostly. Hugging Face routes through an acquirer outside your home market, and that acquirer checks the card's issuing country against your account region first. Your bank never sees the charge, so nothing shows up as fraud on your side.
Which one is cheapest for Hugging Face?
On our numbers Bleap leads at 9.8 out of 10. The rest is down to top-up cost: waived top-up fees matter more than a lower issuance fee once you are past month one.
Can I use a card with no KYC for Hugging Face?
None of the 10 cards above skip verification entirely. The lightest are Chime, Bybit Card, Revolut, which ask for an ID but no address proof. That is usually the better trade for a recurring subscription.
What does Hugging Face cost in total?
Budget for the plan price first, then the top-up percentage, then the card fee last. Of the 10 cards above, 6 charge nothing to issue.
Do I have to keep the card open between Hugging Face renewals?
Yes, unless you plan to re-enter the card every month. Freeze it between charges if the issuer supports that; closing it means starting over at the next renewal.
How we test
23 cards went through a live Hugging Face checkout on a real account, and one only counts if the first charge clears and the renewal four weeks later clears too. Cards that pass the trial then fail on renewal get marked down rather than dropped. Fees come from the issuers' own pricing pages, re-checked monthly, and converted at the rate on the verification date when they are not in USD. The full protocol, including how we log declines, is on the methodology page.
