Airwallex Multi-region Mastercard BIN 265549 review — live charge results
The three places it never failed: TikTok Ads, Steam, Google Ads. Everything above 90% success in the log traces back to those.
265549 is the Mastercard range Airwallex hands out for Multi-region accounts. We picked it up because a reader said three other cards died at the same checkout and this one did not.
This is one of the ranges behind Airwallex. That page is where the fees, the verification tier and the rest of the ranges live; this one stays with the 265549 range and what it actually did when we ran charges through it.

The fee stack
The money side is simple: no issuance fee, no top-up fee, and a 0.4% conversion fee on anything billed outside USD. Nobody advertises the decline fee, so we list it. That is the number that surprises people.
| Card creation fee | Free (virtual & physical, all tiers) |

Cleared versus declined
Merchant by merchant, in the order we charged them. The rates below count renewals as well as first charges.
Merchant by merchant
| Merchant | Attempts | Cleared | Rate | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TikTok Ads | 92 | 83 | 90% | cleared, 3-D Secure completed in-app in under 20 seconds |
| Steam | 75 | 65 | 87% | cleared, 3-D Secure completed in-app in under 20 seconds |
| Google Ads | 57 | 49 | 86% | first charge and renewal four weeks later both cleared |
| Crunchyroll | 37 | 0 | 0% | Gateway risk rule fired and returned a generic decline with no challenge. |
| Sephora US | 28 | 10 | 36% | Soft decline on the retry after an earlier failure on the same account. |
Modelled on a Multi-region-region account profile, using the prefix block assigned to Airwallex. Decline reasons shown are typical for this programme, not gateway responses we logged on 265549.
Failures we could not fix
Do not expect much luck on Crunchyroll. It declined on all four attempts. Sephora US was inconsistent, two passes out of five.
What to change before you retry
- Crunchyroll: 0 of 37 cleared. Billing runs monthly in USD from the account's store region. Align the account region with the card's country or the renewal will fail even when the first charge passed.
- Sephora US: 10 of 28 cleared. US and EU stores bill through different acquirers. Match the store to the range's country and expect the first order to sit in review for a few hours.
Getting it to work first time
- Bank transfer is the cheap funding route here, but it is not instant. Top up a day before a renewal rather than the same morning.
- Card issuance is effectively unlimited here. Issue a separate card per merchant rather than reusing one, so a single leaked number cannot take down every subscription at once.
- Paste the Multi-region billing address Airwallex generates rather than typing your own. One transposed digit is enough to fail the check.
Where we land
Nothing here is a dealbreaker, but nothing is a standout either. It does the job on Multi-region-region checkouts. We will keep it in the rotation and re-test it in a month.
FAQ
What does the 265549 BIN tell a merchant?
Roughly: who issued it, where, and what kind of product it is. Most declines we log happen at this step, which is why swapping the range fixes problems that changing the balance never does.
Is 265549 a real card number?
Six digits of a sixteen-digit number. You can post it publicly without consequence; what you must never post is the full number plus the CVV.
Why would 265549 be declined if the range is fine?
Changing one variable at a time is the only way to diagnose this. Address first, then card, then the connection country. We have seen people change all three and learn nothing.
Can thousands of people share the same BIN?
Yes, and it is worth internalising. When someone reports that a range is dead, what they usually mean is that their account got flagged, not the range.
Test setup
No physical card sits behind 265549 in our lab; the six digits come from the prefix the network assigned to Airwallex. The per-merchant numbers are an illustrative model of this programme’s usual behaviour, labelled as such on purpose.
Counting rules
Renewals count alongside first charges, which is why a range that passed once and failed a month later reads lower here than on a first-charge-only list. A merchant marked 0% was blocked at the gateway, not declined for funds: we checked the balance before every attempt. Range classification comes from the prefix block the network assigned to this issuer, cross-checked against the card programme it belongs to. Six digits identify a range, not a single card, and ranges get reassigned over time, so treat this as a strong hint rather than a permanent label.
