Every range on this page was funded with our own money and charged for real. Where a card failed, the reason sits on its BIN page rather than in a footnote here.
Quick verdict

Chime is the default pick: free to create, no top-up fee, ID only at signup. Privacy.com is the fallback if a merchant blocks the first range (free to create).

Methodology: 14,375 live checkout attempts were run against these ranges in September 2026. The order below comes from that test data. PayPal Key stopped issuing new cards, so it is not ranked above; the range stays listed below with its test history intact.

Filling the billing address (AVS)

Things we noticed in testing

American acquirers ask for 3-D Secure less often than European ones. That removes a step at checkout, and it also means a blocked range fails fast instead of hanging on an OTP screen that never arrives.

Most US-issued virtual cards in our set are debit products from neobanks rather than credit lines. Funding runs through crypto or a US bank transfer, and several issuers cap how many cards one account can hold.

65 of our 323 tracked ranges are US-issued; the cards behind them run mostly on 6 Visa, 4 Mastercard.

Worth knowing about this issuer pool

Where these cards clear checkouts

Checkouts where at least one US-issued card carries a positive flag in our tests. The count is the same hit set the checkout guides use, so the numbers match both sides:

BIN ranges issued in the US

Each range has its own page with test counts and decline reasons. If one merchant blocks your range, move to another rather than retrying the same one.

What changed in the September 2026 pass

This guide is rebuilt from live test runs, so the numbers move when a range starts declining or an issuer changes its pricing. The review log reflects the current pass:

Questions we get asked

Chime is the strongest all-rounder among the 10 US-issued cards we track, at 9.7 out of 10. The full list is the table above: sorted on fees, how reliably each card cleared live charges, and how much verification it demands.

None of the 10 cards let you pick an arbitrary address. Each one generates its own and the AVS check expects that exact string, so copy it rather than retyping it.

Creation fees run from 0 to 2 USD across the table, and top-up percentages range from 1% to 3.99% per load. The fee that actually compounds is the top-up percentage, because you pay it every time you reload. A free top-up beats a cheaper one-off fee once the card survives past the first month.

1 of the 10 cards above is listed as No KYC: Pikabao. They work, but they decline more often and their fees run worse than an issuer that takes an ID.
